7 Bedroom Paint Color Trends That Will Define 2027, From Comforting Shades to Unexpected Pops of Color

Key Points Bedroom colors are shifting toward restful, lived-in looks as people seek calm retreats.
Creamy white and warm beige will remain flexible choices for many bedroom styles.
Espresso brown, dusty red or pink, blue-gray, and earthy green will add muted color.
Your bedroom should be a place to unwind, recharge, and escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life, and the right paint color can help set the tone.
Designers are leaning into colors that make bedrooms feel warm, inviting, timeless, and deeply personal. They predict these spaces will continue to embrace earthy neutrals, like classic creamy whites, alongside muted, timeless shades of blue, red, green, and even pink.

Here are the top seven paint color trends designers predict will take over bedroom walls in 2027.
Meet the Expert Jill Tran is co-owner and principal designer at Tran + Thomas Design Studio, an interior design and architecture studio based in Mission, Kansas.
Sabrina Soto is a Behr Paint Ambassador and interior designer.
Hallie Malitsky is the Brooklyn-based founder of Hallie Rose Design, an interior design studio specializing in timeless, layered spaces.

Creamy whites and off-whites have been a big hit in bedrooms for years now, and in 2027 that’s not set to change.

These classic shades feel timeless and work well with any design style. Plus, they offer a blank canvas for furniture and decor to build on.
“Anytime we use soft neutrals, though, we’d love to give some type of additional color commitment beyond pillows and throws, perhaps using rich leather pieces or sumptuous drapes,” Tran says.

Just a few years ago, black paint made a big comeback in the bedroom, often used on accent walls to create moody, high-contrast focal points. In 2027, Tran says black will be replaced by something a little warmer: rich espresso and dark chocolate browns.

They also bring a sense of richness and sophistication to the bedroom, pairing beautifully with warm wood tones, creamy whites, and layered natural textures. Whether used on all four walls or as an accent behind the bed, dark chocolate brown creates a moody backdrop that feels timeless rather than trendy.
These shades are a hit with paint companies in 2027, too, with Little Greene and Dunn-Edwards both choosing dark brown paints as their 2027 Color of the Year picks.

Beige is back! Warm beiges, tans, taupes, and mushroom tones have been popular over the past few years, and designers expect that to continue in the new year—you can’t go wrong with a good neutral, after all.

These classic neutral shades are perfect for someone who wants something richer than creamy white, but less intense than dark brown or a true color. Soto says Behr’s Even Better Beige and Midtown are her top picks for warm beige bedroom paint in 2027.
Clay, Terracotta, and Muted Reds

For a long time, using red paint in the bedroom was considered somewhat of a design faux pas. Color psychology says red is a high-energy color, making it better-suited for rooms where relaxation and calm aren’t the main priority (think game rooms, dining rooms, etc.). However, muted and earthy reds are a totally different story, according to Soto.
“I think we’ll see more homeowners willing to use warmer reds in bedrooms, especially versions that have brown or clay undertones,” she says. “Those earthy undertones give the colors a natural warmth that can make a bedroom feel rich and intimate.”

Muted Pinks Credit: Design by Kate Marker Interiors
Designers say that muted, antiqued pinks are about to be all the rage in bedrooms . The key is choosing the right shades and balancing the decor in your space so the room doesn’t feel too sweet.
Muted pinks with complex undertones are designers’ go-to in 2027. Think muted hues and earthy tones, such as beige-blushes, dusty roses, and warm plaster pinks.
“Antique peony is a color I love for bedrooms in 2027, a dusty pink with peach tones,” says Hallie Malitsky, founder and principal designer of Hallie Rose Design. “It’s not too sugary, so it works in both children’s and adult bedrooms…The peach undertone looks stunning next to all different wood tones.”
Soft Blue-Grays

Blue is classic in the bedroom, and designers agree that blue paint isn’t going anywhere in 2027. However, they say that soft blue-grays will continue to dominate interiors over crisp or coastal tones.

Soto says Behr’s Half Sea Fog is a great option if you’re looking for something lighter, while Nocturne Blue is her pick for darker, more dramatic spaces.
Earthy Greens

Last but certainly not least, designers predict green will remain popular in bedrooms in 2027. Deep, earthy greens have been trending over the past few years, and if Behr’s 2027 Color of the Year is any indication, they’re not going anywhere anytime soon.
“A bedroom should help you transition out of the energy of the day, and these colors naturally create that feeling,” says Soto.
